More than 3,000 buildings across the country competed to see who could save the most energy through a variety of conservation methods. The winner—an elementary school in Demarest, NJ, cut its energy use by an amazing 52% in a single year! The complete results are fascinating to review and resort. There is probably a building near you that participated!

“In all, competitors saved a total of more than 3 billion kBtus of energy and $50 million on utility bills. These savings reduced annual greenhouse gas emissions equal to the electricity used by more than 40,000 homes,” according to the website. Lots and lots to learn here, as well as to be inspired by.

If you want to join in the next competition, register before May 31. Good luck!
