Tight houseTo save the most on heating, you need to have a tight house, as well as an efficient heating system. What can you do?
• Seal Leaks – proper leak & draft sealing, and insulation can save up to 20% on your heating bill
• Add Insulation the recommendation for most attics is R-38, although in our cold area, up to R-49 isn’t a bad idea. And don’t forget walls!
• Check Ductwork – common problems include leaks, poorly sealed regiseters and grills, leaks at furnace. In a typical house with forced air heating, about 20% of the air that moves through the ducting is lost due to leaks, holes, and poorly connected ducts.
