Cutting Edge & Energy Efficient
We highly recommend heat pumps. “Air source” and “ground source” heat pumps pull heat from the air or ground, and move it indoors to use. There’s a little magic in there — a compressor condenses the outside air to get more heat out of it. When they air condition, they reverse the process and remove the heat out of the air before blowing it into your home.
We have a lot of passion for this technology. Heat pumps are the real environmental heroes of our age. They run on electricity and do not give off carbon emissions or contribute to global warming.
In addition, they filter the air as they circulate it, which will reduce allergens and irritants, improving your indoor air quality.
Read our short descriptions below about the different types of heat pumps. To discuss your home’s particular situation and whether a heat pump is right for you, look over our FAQs page, or call us. We are happy to answer your questions.
Why Choose Dee’s?
Dee’s is southern Vermont’s most experienced installer of heat pumps. We have been installing them for more than 40 years. This is a technology where experience really does matter. Over the years, we have learned the most efficient ways to install them in almost every home and business situation. Along the way, we’ve learned the pitfalls, so we know what to avoid, too.
Air Source Heat Pumps
Cold Climate Wall Mounted Units
Cold climate or “hyper-heat” mini-splits require no ductwork at all and can often be installed in one day! The indoor air handler mounts high on a wall, out of the way. It is connected to the outdoor compressor by one 3.5″ conduit. The compressor collects heat from the ambient air and makes more of it by compressing it.
Mini-splits let you warm up that cold room, or cool off a hot one. They both heat and cool with the same environmentally friendly technology and easy installation. They are also amazingly quiet!
Whole House Split System Heat Pumps
Split system heat pumps keep your entire home comfortable all year long. If you are interested in moving to heating and cooling system that does not rely on the carbon-based oil or gas, this is a wonderful solution. Because each system is a custom installation, we will be happy to come out and give you a free estimate.
Ground Source Heat Pumps
If your house is on the ground, you can enjoy the benefits of geothermal heating. Whether 1795 Colonial or a brand new build, almost any home can use geothermal energy for heat and air conditioning, and reduce or eliminate dependence on fossil fuels.
Geothermal heat pump systems use the ground beneath to heat or cool the building. No on-site carbon emissions, no oil or gas heating bills, and the air in your house is continuously filtered! If you have allergies or sensitivities to airborne particles, such a benefit could mean better health, as well as a more comfortable home. Even more persuasive is the 30% Tax Credit, available through the end of 2016.
Do these heating and air conditioning benefits appeal to you?
• Lower Operating Cost
• The Most Environmentally Friendly System Available
• Enhanced Comfort
Installing a geothermal system as a house is being built is simplicity itself. Retrofitting a system into an existing home is almost always a possibility. We just need to come look it over and then we can tell you what would be involved in getting you to the freedom of heat from the ground under your house!
Geothermal heating and cooling systems are expensive to install but inexpensive to run, and the most environmentally friendly heating and cooling systems there are. This video explanation from the Dept of Energy very clear and informative. You can also look at these area homes into which we have recently put geothermal systems.
Central Air Conditioning
If you only want to get cool, let’s talk about a new central air conditioning system. York, a leader in cooling, offers sizes to suit any home. We recommend their Energy Star rated units, which are 10% – 20% more efficient than conventional models, so you get savings, too.
A central a/c system lets you do away with inefficient, noisy window units. If you already have ducting in your home, they are not difficult to install.
Dee’s is proud to provide York air conditioning systems. York home comfort systems are designed and built to provide maximum quality, comfort and efficiency to your home, and Dee’s has a long relationship with York, which means lots of knowledge on our end, lots of support on theirs.
And if appearance matters to you (and doesn’t it matter to everyone?)—you’ll be pleased to learn that York is the only air conditioning manufacturer that offers outdoor units in custom colors. With a sleek, contemporary look, the Affinity™ Series is the only system on the market that gives you the choice of seven exterior colors, plus the latest technology on the inside.
